Discover everything you need to know about our authentic Hokkaido soup curry and your dining experience with us.

Soup curry is a beloved Japanese comfort food that originated in Sapporo, Hokkaido in the early 1970s. Unlike traditional Japanese curry which is thick and sweet, soup curry features a light, aromatic broth made with chicken stock, curry powder, and garam masala. It’s served as a soup dish with steamed rice on the side, allowing you to enjoy the flavorful broth and ingredients separately or mixed together.

Traditional Japanese curry has a thick, gravy-like consistency and tends to be sweeter. Soup curry, on the other hand, has a thin, broth-based consistency with a more complex spice profile. The rice is served separately rather than being covered with the curry, and the vegetables are often deep-fried to maintain their vibrant colors and textures.

Our soup curry features tender chicken (thighs and legs) and a colorful array of deep-fried vegetables including bell peppers, lotus root, eggplant, and potato. The vegetables are prepared using traditional Japanese cutting methods and cooking techniques. The curry broth is infused with aromatic spices creating a rich, flavorful soup.
